As of the 7.4.0 release, you can set up multiple associated products under a product "umbrella", set pricing for a range of relationships, and have complete control over the product selling process.
Only INV umbrella products display correctly on the web. If you want to create a SUB umbrella product, create a general umbrella product, create individual SUB products, and assign the individual SUB products as options under the umbrella.
These umbrella products serve as parent products which can house multiple individual or child products. For example, perhaps you sell journal subscriptions in multiple formats (e.g., hard cover, soft cover, etc.). Each of the individual subscriptions would be under the parent general journal subscription umbrella product and the different formats would make up the individual products. It is a recommended best practice to begin by setting up the individual products before creating the umbrella product. This process will save you time by immediately allowing you to choose the products to assign to an umbrella product instead of going back and setting up each one and then assigning them individually.
Before setting up your umbrella products, ensure that you have performed the following:
· Step 1: Setting Up System Types and Codes for Umbrella Products
· Step 2: Adding the Product Review and Product Options Screens to your Personify360 Menu
· Step 3: Defining Product Options and Choices for Subscription Products (e.g., format: hard cover or soft cover, etc.)
Once you are ready to set up umbrella products, perform the following actions:
· Step 1: Creating an Individual Subscription Product for an Umbrella Product
· Step 2: Creating an Umbrella Product
· Step 3: Assigning Individual Products to the Umbrella Product and Select Product Options and Choices
To search for umbrella products in Product Maintenance, enter "U" in Product Type field and click Search.
