Abstracts and Submissions (ABS) Overview

Personify’s Abstracts and Submissions Management (ABS) system is an almost entirely Web-based system designed as a mechanism to allow Web users to submit abstracts, manuscripts, posters, etc., for consideration by the association for presentation at a conference. The ABS system can be configured to meet your organization's needs. You can use the ABS system for submissions with or without a review process.

The ABS system allows for complete control over the abstracts process, including the following:

·            Configuring your Org Unit for Abstracts & Submissions

·            Creating ABS staff users

·            Adding ABS to your website

·            Managing abstract and submission reviewers, including approving reviewers, appointing to term(s), and assigning areas of expertise

·            Creating "Calls for Participation" and submission types, including all the necessary setups, workflows, and security

The diagram below will give you a general idea of the overall structure of the Abstracts and Submission system for a typical call for papers for an Annual Conference.

ABS Intended Audience

The ABS system will be used by three different types of users: administrators and staff, submitters, and reviewers. This document is primarily focused on the tasks to be performed by administrators and staff. Please see Submitter’s Sample User Interface for a sample interface of what the submitter might see while creating a submission. Similarly, see Reviewer’s Sample User Interface for a sample interface of what the reviewer might see while scoring submissions.

The steps detailed in the Setting Up Abstracts and Submissions and Working with ABS as an Administrator sections should be performed by a system administrator who is familiar with the structure of your organization's databases.
