In order to set up umbrella products, the recommended steps are as follows:
To set up umbrella products:
1. Step 1: Set up System Types and Codes
In order to get started, you will need to begin by setting up the correct types and codes to be used as the product options and choices for umbrella products. For more information, please see Setting Up System Types and Codes for Umbrella Products.
2. Step 2: Add the Product Options and Product Review Screens to your Personify Menu
Before you can define product options and choices, the system administrator will need to add both the Product Options and Product Review screens to the appropriate menus in your application toolbar. The menu where the additions are made is entirely up to your preference. For more information on adding these screens, please see Adding the Product Review and Product Options Screens to your Personify Menu.
3. Step 3: Set up Product Options and Choices
When creating your umbrella product(s), you will need to have designated a set of options and choices for your staff and customers to choose from. For example, options can consist of color, format, size, etc. Choices will fall under options. For example, the color option choices may be red, white, black, etc. For more information on how to set up product options and choices, please see Setting up Product Options and Choices for Umbrella Products.
4. Step 4: Create Individual Products under the Umbrella
Umbrella products can only be associated with individual INV, DCD, or SUB products. It is recommended that you set up any individual products first before associating them with an umbrella product. This allows you, after you create your umbrella product, to select your individual product and associate it with your umbrella product without having to go back and perform an extra step. 5. Step 5: Create an Umbrella Product
Once you have completed the steps above, you can create your umbrella product(s). Umbrella products serve as a parent product to the individual products you associate them with. For example, perhaps you sell cancer awareness sweatshirts that say “Fight Like a Girl” on them and you sell them in multiple sizes (e.g., S, M, L) and colors (e.g., Pink and Green). Each of the individual shirts would be under the cancer awareness sweatshirt parent umbrella product and the colors and sizes would make up the individual products.
Personify360 supports to ability to create INV, SUB, and DCD umbrella products (Product Type = "U"). However, only umbrella products with a subsystem of "INV" are supported on the web. Currently, umbrella products with a subsystem of "SUB" or "DCD" are not supported on the web. Therefore, if you want to create a SUB or DCD umbrella product, you must first create a general umbrella product with a subsystem of "INV", then you can create individual SUB or DCD products and assign the individual products as options under the umbrella. Please note that although umbrella products with a subsystem of "SUB" or "DCD" do not display on the web, they can be purchased via the back office.

6. Step 6: Assign Individual Products to an Umbrella Product and Select Product Options and Choices
You must associate the desired individual products with the appropriate umbrella product. Then, you can select the appropriate product options and choices you set up earlier to the umbrella product or each of the products individually or in a group.
