Best Practices for the Shopping Cart Controls

1.    Question: Why did the image shown below display?
Answer: The image below is an example of a base error message. If you encounter error message verbiage that you do not like during your own spot-checking and testing, you can update those messages. See Personify Data Services-User Friendly Message for Validation Issues for more information.

2.    Question: Can I access the shopping cart from multiple places on my site?
Answer: Yes, you are able to access the shopping cart from multiple places on your site. For this reason, it is very important that the shopping cart has a single URL so that your web users will be able to access it from these various places.

3.    Question: Will products added to my shopping cart, but were NOT purchased still display in my shopping cart?
Answer: For web users who are logged into your site, products that were added in the past, but were not purchased will still display in the shopping cart. For web users who are NOT logged into your site, products that were added in the past, but were not purchased will be saved for guest web users as long as cookies are enabled on your site.

4.    Question: Can I run a report to see what product(s) my web users have been adding to their shopping carts?
Answer:  As of 7.5.0, the new universe, All Order Entry in Data Analyzer, allows you to run queries to see what products your web users have in their carts including products that were added to the saved for later section. See All Order Entry Universe for more information.

5.    Question: Is there a specific display order for items added to my shopping cart?
Answer: No, items in the cart display in the order that they were added with the most recent on top. There is no visual way to distinguish between different types of products in the cart. The only exception is for membership products. If web user adds a membership product to his/her cart and then continues to shop for other products, when he/she proceeds to checkout, the membership will display first in the list regardless of when the membership product was added to the cart.
