Volunteers Overview

A volunteer is any customer (an individual or company) that provides some type of service to the organization at no charge. Non-profit organizations often use volunteers to fulfill the mission of the organization. For some organizations, their need for volunteers may be as simple as having individuals to staff their committees. Other organizations may manage a network of thousands of volunteers.

The Volunteer Management module allows an organization to define and manage the following:

·            Volunteers

·            Volunteer events/opportunities

·            Jobs that need to be performed at volunteer events

·            Volunteer assignments to the event jobs

·            Volunteer recognition structure

·            Volunteer system setup

Some activities already tracked in Personify qualify as volunteer activities, and the customers participating in those activities need to be defined within the application as volunteers. The participating customers include committee members, meeting speakers, and reviewers of abstracts, journal manuscripts, etc.

Some organizations require volunteers to go through a structured, multi-step training rather than a simple background check or orientation. For this purpose, there is a link between Certification and Volunteer Qualification Activity. A certification registration can be flagged as a volunteer qualification activity and when the candidate completes the certification process, a record is automatically created for that customer as a volunteer qualification activity.
