The Specify Address Validators By Country screen allows you to assign the appropriate address validation interface to a specific country.
The interface configured for a specific country in the Assign by Country screen takes precedence over the interface configured in the Interface Parameter Maintenance/Search screen.
To assign the appropriate address validation interface to a specific country:
1. From the Configure and Verify Interfaces (APP014) screen, click Specify Address Validators by Country (Optional).
The Country and State Code Maintenance (APP007) search screen displays.
2. Enter the Country code or click Search to search for the desired country.
For example, USA.
3. Highlight the country and click Select.
4. The Country and State Code Maintenance details screen displays, as shown below.
5. As shown in the screenshot above, select Spectrum Universal Address from the Address Validation Interface drop-down.
6. Optionally, select an On Screen Validation option: Validate States and/or Validate Postal Codes.
7. If you wish to add a State or Province to the validator, click Add State or Province.
The active state/province codes are listed below this button.
Details for the currently selected state/province are displayed to the right.
a. If you are adding a state/province, enter the State code and its Description in the text boxes.
b. If you are deleting a state/province, select it from the list on the left and click Delete State or Province.
A confirmation message will ask if you wish to delete this row. Click Yes or Cancel.
8. Click Save.
9. Click Search Results to return to the Country and State Code Maintenance screen and repeat the steps for a different country code.
If you do not select Spectrum Universal Address for a country and try to validate an address from that country, the Personify application will not complete a check on that address and will determine the address as “undefined” or “incorrect,” but will not affect your database.
When setting up Address Validation by Country, it is recommended that no address validation be set up for France. This is because there is an inherent issue with the way that France validates its addresses, where the validation returns the address on Line 3 of the address, and needs to be manually moved to Address Line 1 for the AVS of PayPal to correctly charge the card. Setting the address validation for France to NONE will retain the address on Line 1 when entered. If French addresses were previously entered with the address validation set up, they will need to be manually updated.
